Myers Beds Gets Bigger With Iveco

Bed manufacturer Myers Beds replaced three of its trucks with new Iveco Stralis Drawbar units, marking the first delivery of ‘large cab’ vehicles into a fleet which is comprised almost entirely of Cargos from the Iveco family.

The Cambridgeshire based company placed the order based on its existing relationship with the Iveco distributor, T C Harrison and demount manufacturer, Abel Demountable Systems which currently supplies over 90 per cent of the company’s 33-strong commercial vehicle fleet.

The drivers selected for the new vehicles have been exceptionally impressed, not just with the larger Active Time cabs, but also with the smoothness of the EuroTronic gearboxes. These factors will serve to reduce wear and tear on not only the drivers but also vehicle components.

The Stralis 190S27/P’s are fitted with Abel Demountable swap bodies and coupled with the Abel built drawbar trailers are capable of transporting 28 complete bed sets per container body. Operating out of Myers Beds 300,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Huntingdon, the vehicles will deliver to retail outlets nationwide and are expected to remain on the fleet for between eight and ten years.
